Republic of Lithuania
Citizens’  VOICE

26th May, 2012

We citizens gathered today at this Meeting in Vilnius, declare that:

We want to live in a free and dignified State,

We will no longer allow that the human dignity and honor of citizens be trampled on,

We will not allow Lithuania to be transformed into a small Russia,

We will defend our democratic Republic, its values and constitutional system,

We will defend the rights  and freedoms of our children, our parents as well as  our own rights and freedoms,

We will oppose dictatorship, the Government’s violence and occupancy of the State,

We will not tolerate open lies and will defend the right to free speech,

We will not collaborate with the Government  when it lies and uses violence,

We will strive that the State be returned to its citizens, Homeland – returned to Lithuanians throughout the world,

We will do everything that following the elections in autumn, the Lithuanian nation be represented by brave, honest people who are loyal to the Republic of Lithuania and who respect their citizens.

We state that on the morning of the 17th of May, 2012 the Government exceeded all limits and encroached on the constitutional state system, fundamental democratic values and citizens co-existence. The Government’s violence today is accompanied by lies, intimidation and manipulation of Lithuania’s citizens.

Therefore, we demand that:

Open lying and violence be immediately stopped.

Those who ordered and who supported such an order to use violence on the 17th of May, 2012 be openly exposed: – those who gave orders, used violence and the officials who supported the violence must be fired and be held legally responsible for their actions.

In the event that this does not happen we will form an independent public commission to investigate the Government’s crimes.

The President of the Republic of Lithuania must eventually decide and clearly answer to society: who does she support – the Republic of Lithuania, its citizens or abusive powerful groups.

We will not quit.
